Earliest Known Ancestor: Richard Driscoll, Skull being investigated as origin

We are not absolutely certain of the earliest known paternal ancestor but we feel more certain of the data out of Kinsale. The possibility of James Driscoll and Abby Gallagher of Skull as the ancestors is being investigated.

These Driscolls were fishermen and lived in Scilly. The ancestral family were on Higher Street in Kinsale in the 1901 census.

  b.c. 1825 m. Mary Fives(1) 11 Feb 1843 Kinsale, were also the parents of Eliza (1845)
  • Charles Driscoll
    b. 06 Jan 1850 Kinsale, m. firstly Catherine Connors 14 Apr 1874, were also the parents of Catherine (c. 1877)
    • Richard Driscoll
      b. 24 Mar 1879 m. Julia O'Connell 16 Feb 1907 Kinsale, were also the parents of Charles (1908), Catherine (1909), Mary (1911), Richard and John twins (1914), others born after 1920
      • Michael Driscoll
        b. 1920 m. private
        • Tester
    m. secondly Johanna Driscoll Coughlan (widow) 18 Jan 1883. Were the parents of Elizabeth (1884), Mary Ellen (1885), Patrick (1887), Charles (1891), and Timothy (1894).

(1) - The surname Fives appears in Cork & Ross diocese almost entirely in Kinsale, with a smattering in Kilmeen & Castleventry. The name might be from Waterford.
