Page______________________________________________This is a Y DNA project for MEN bearing the last name Driscoll or spelling variant - OR - who bear a known West Cork secondary name along with having paternal line west Cork ancestry.
A Y DNA test at FTDNA of 37 or more markers is required to be in the project. See the FTDNA products.
It is not sufficient to have someone named Driscoll in the ancestry. The DIRECT PATERNAL LINE of the man who tests must be of men named Driscoll.
If your last name is NOT Driscoll but you think you are eligible, read the FTDNA FAQ carefully for prerequisites BEFORE you click JOIN. The FAQ also lists options for non-eligible researchers.Recommended Reading Order for Driscoll Project

Main haplogroup page of Driscoll results.
Haplogroup page help guide for help in understanding charts and graphics that could be on the haplogroup pages.
Browse the specific haplogroup pages at your leisure.
While you are waiting for your Y DNA test results, you can read the FTDNA FAQ for details on account setup; read the DNA tutorial for details on navigating and interpreting Y results, etc.
The results of the project at FTDNA are private BY DEFAULT, visible ONLY to FTDNA account holders. Except for data on the results pages here, data is not public. So if you have a relative tested, you'll need access to the relative's account if you want to see results and matches!!
Managing Your Information Once You've Joined the Y DNA Project
Once you've enrolled a Y DNA test in the project at FTDNA, you will have some information to manage:
- Create a new file on your computer and save it in a safe and obvious place in a genealogy directory on your computer hard drive and name it DRISCOLLDNA or DRISCOLLPROJECT or something that will help you recall what the file contains.
- Enter your your FTDNA account number, password, and all the emails you have in your FTDNA account contact information.
- If you are an Active Participant engaged with the project at an advanced level and your anonymized data is published here on driscoll.dnagen.org, add your *permanent* project member number to this file.
This way, all your key Driscoll project related information is in ONE PLACE.
PLEASE treat your DNA data account the way you would your personal bank account, and keep contact and beneficiary information up to date.
For just about all of us genealogy is a fun hobby. But it is all too easy for life to derail us and divert us for long periods of time from the things we enjoy doing. I am hoping that by you taking these steps, fewer of you will fall off the radar and go missing in action.
