Earliest known ancestor Denis Driscoll of Castlehaven circa 1860s-80s.
My grandfather, William O'Driscoll, was born to Denis Driscoll and Mary Leary on a farm in Castlehaven, County Cork. Castlehaven is on the coast near Skibbereen and is about one mile from Castletownsend.
Denis and Mary had a good number of children including John 1866, Patrick 1868, Dennis 1871, Mary 1877, Hannah 1879, William 1882, Michael 1884, Kathleen and Margaret. I have some knowledge of their descendants but almost no knowledge of Denis and his ancestors.
William eventually ended up in Cobh, where my father William George O'Driscoll was born. William George eventually emigrated to the US. The project member is a direct paternal line descendant in the US.
Project Note: The marriage record of Denis Driscoll and Mary Leary says that his father's name was Patrick.
Project Note: There might is also a death record, 23 Apr 1910, aged 80 years, son Willie P.A.D.
Project Note: Denis and Mary were in Castlehaven in 1901. Widowed Mary was still in Castlehaven in 1911.
