"The O Driscoll"

Corca Laidhe

The diagram below depicts the pedigree and descendants of Eirdirsceil the progenitor after whom the Ui Eidersceoil or O'Driscolls took their hereditary surname. He is estimated to have lived around 942 AD and is a descendent of Lughaidh Laidhe, from whom Corca-Laidhe families such as the O'Driscoll, O'Coffee or O'Cowhig and O'Flynn are said to descend.

Pedigree

Conchobar or Cornelius O'Driscoll

Alexander O'Driscoll, Esq. J.P

Some oft-cited accounts mistakenly give the wife of Alexander O'Driscoll of Mountmusic as Mary. The church records record her as Margaret.

By some of these accounts the O'Driscolls of Creagh Court, Old Court, Mountmusic, and Lakelands may have been related but the exact relationships are difficult if not impossible to work out. The aforementioned Alexander O'Driscoll of Mountmusic (above), has been cited as a relative of Alexander O'Driscoll J.P. of Norton Cottage, the magistrate who died in jail in 1849.
