On Wednesday evening last the body of C. Driscoll, Esq., was removed from his late residence, Warwick-street, to the Catholic Burying Ground, where it is interred.
Mr. Driscoll was a native of Crookhaven, county of Cork, which place he left many years since, and went to London, where he transacted business to a great extent, but his speculations were not of a very beneficial kind. he arrived in this colony in 1831; he obtained and filled the office of Chief Clerk in the Colonial Secretary's Department, and that of Assistant Police Magistrate, for some years. He was subsequently appointed Manager of the Union Bank, which he left to establish the Colonial Bank. He conducted this establishment during a period of great commercial difficulty, and even, although it was abruptly closed, through internal dissension, nearly the subscribed capital was realized, contrary to general expectation. He was appointed a member of the Legislative Council by Sir Bardley Wilmot, int the room of one of the six members, who seceded in 1845, and sat in council during the last session in 1846.
The following are the bequests left by the deceased: - The sum of 100£ per annum to Mr. Alex Driscoll, Crookhaven, Ireland; the sum of 251£ per annum to the head the Catholic Church of van Diemen's Land, until the children of the deceased come of age; the sum of 200 £ for the purpose of completing St. Joseph's; 50£ towards the Catholic Schools of V.D. Land; the sum of 400 pounds to be inveted, and the interest given to the Vicar-General, Very Rev. William Hall, Rev. Luke Levermore, and the head clergy of Launceston and Pichmond; 300£ for the Directors of the College at All Hallows, near Dublins, to assist in the education of Roman Catholic clergymen, 500£ to the President of the College at Lyons, for the education of Catholic clergymen; 100£ for the Right Rev. Wm. Wilson, D.D., to be distributed to charity; 200£ to Daniel O'Connell, Esq.; 30£ per annum to his nephew Michael, and 300£ when he comes of age. 25£ is left to each of the executors, and the remaining bulk of the property is left to his two children, Mary Jane and Eliza Driscoll.
The deceased was seventy-five years of age, and was generally much respected. - Hobart Town Guardian, 1st January.

funeral of a seaman belonging to h.m.s. majestic.
The funeral of William Driscoll, who was unfortunately killed on Monday evening last, by falling from the foretop gallant yard of the H.M.S. Majestic, which took place on Thursday, in the new cemetery at Bidston, Birkenhead. The deceased was captain of the foretop, a native of the county Cork and the only support of a widowed mother. As a tribute of respect to a deserving petty officer his remains were followed to their last resting-place by about 30 marines and 100 "blue jackets" belong to the Majestic. The body was removed from the ship of war to Rock Ferry at noon, and the coffin was then placed upon a gun carriage, covered with the British ensign, the cap of the deceased being place at the top. The marines, under the command of Lieutenant Woodford, marched in front, with arms reversed, followed by the band of the Majestic. The coffin came next and the rear was brought up by the seamen, in charge of Lieutenant Wilkinson. Captain Paynter, of the Majestic, was also present. On the way to the cemetery the band played a dead march, and the mournful procession, as it proceeded through Birkenhead, attracted a large number of spectators. The deceased was a Catholic, and the interment took place in the portion of ground appropriated in the cemetery for the burial of persons professing the Roman Catholic faith. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. Canon Chapman. of St. Werberg's, who, according to the rites of the Catholic Church; blessed the grave, the ground not having been yet consecrated. After the service, the marines fired a volley over the grave, and, along with the "blue jackets," then marched out of the cemetery and proceeded to the Majestic. This was the first Catholic interment in the new cemetery. - Liverpool Mercury

death and funeral of mr. t. o'driscoll, innisbeg.
We regret to announce this week the death of Mr. Timothy O'Driscoll which took place at his residence, Innisbeg, near Skibbereen, on Monday last. Deceased was in indifferent health for a number of years, and though he had all the advantages of contant medical attendance, aided by the assiduous and devoted care of his family, he could never regain the good health which he once possessed in so uncommon a degree, and bearing his infirmities with a cheerfulness and resignation that were most consoling, he expired on Monday, to the intense grief of his family, and to the great regret of his many friends in West Cork. Desceased was a member of an old, well-known, and highly respected family family, and was remarkable for the unvarying probity and rectitude of his disposition. For many years a member of the Skibbereen Board of Guardians, he proved himself on all occasions a vigilant guardian of the poor, looking after their interests at times whey they needed most the charity of the public. Not only in Innishbeg amongst his own neighbours, but in every part of West Carbery, Mr. O'Driscoll was deservedly esteemed, and a striking proof of his great popularity was given on Wednesday by the large and representative attendance at his funeral. The cortege left the residence of the deceased at Innishbeg shortly after one o'clock, and large as it was at the start, it was continually augmented on the way to Tullagh burial ground, where the internment took place. The clergy in attendance were - The Rev M.J. Sheey, P.P., Baltimore; the Rev. J. Lyons, Adm, Castlehaven; the Rev. M. o'Callaghan, C.C., Sherkin; and the Rev. E. Daly, C.C. Union Hall.
